Report:
The
Greenberg Train Show in Monroeville is scheduled for August 3rd and
4th. NMRA Div 2 has applied to exhibit in all Greenberg shows
this year but SHMRRC is partnering with Div 2 only for the August show.
Because of our commitments to Locomotion Weekend in January and Mt. Lebanon
in December, we will not be submitting an application for the other
Greenberg shows. All members with modules are free to join with Div 2 for
any show and combine their modules in the layout.
SHMRRC has
been invited back to the Carnegie Library next year. The necessary
improvements in advertising and scheduling were discussed and the consensus
was that we would try another event and work with the library in promoting
the show. The contact at the Carnegie Library suggested another March date
but we won’t set anything up until September due to the lack of information
about possible members’ commitments to school programs.
We have
already been contacted by the Science Center about participation in Locomotion
Weekend in January 2025. Further information about dates will be announced at a
future meeting.
Treasurers
Report:
The
balance in the treasury is $5,152.25 in checking and $650.00 cash on hand
for a total of $5,802.25.
Program:
A work day
will be scheduled for a Saturday in the near future to bring all members’
modules up to our club standard. We follow the basic Freemo standards (see www.shmrrc.org)
with some modifications for our club. Each module will have an auxiliary
power supply bus and Digitrax DCC socket and wires installed. A system of
connecting jumper wires will be used for connections at shows. The necessary
supplies will be purchased through the club treasury. Jeff will email the
membership with the date for the work day.
Ideas for
future program topics were solicited from the members. One suggestion was to
discuss the tools that are most helpful for a model railroad. This has been
scheduled for the May meeting. Each member is encouraged to bring in their most
useful tools for any aspect of model railroading for a lively discussion.
Also, it was
suggested that information about 3-D printing would be helpful. This topic will
be scheduled for the June meeting.
Next
Meeting:
The next SHMRRC meeting will be at the Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at
7:00 pm on May 28, 2024.
