SHMRRC Minutes for the Monthly Meeting

The meeting was held at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, President Jeff Graybill presiding.

 Presidents Report:

 

We will be attending the Mt. Lebanon Winter Market and Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 9th from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.  Setup will be Friday, December 8th from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Parking in front of the Municipal Building for unloading on Friday may be limited.  Please unload and move your vehicle as quickly as possible.  Since Dave Murphy will not be able to attend on Saturday, he will set up the new fifth corner module on Friday.  Dale Vilsack will take down the fifth corner after the show.   We can arrive on Saturday after 10:00 am.  Parking on the street will be limited.  If you can not find free parking the Club will reimburse for parking in the garage.  Jeff has a Train Set for the raffle.  Jeff will email Paul to see if he can run the raffle.

 

We will not hold a meeting in December.
 

Our next meeting will be January 30th 2024. 

 

There is a Greenberg Train Show in Monroeville on January 6th and 7th.  NMRA Div 2 will be displaying a layout.  If anyone from our Club wants to set up their module in this show please contact Jeff.

 

We have been invited to be a part of Locomotion Weekend at Carnegie Science Center on January 13th and 14th, 2024.  Setup will be on Friday, January 12th.  Jeff will email the Club members with the details of set up times. Last year set up was after the Science Center closed at 5:00 pm.   Show times are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Last year it was to 4:00 pm, so we are not sure if 3:00 pm is correct.  If the Steelers get in the play offs and a game is scheduled for this weekend, we will not attend this show

 

A discussion of train wheels, trucks, and couplers is planned for the January 30th meeting based on questions from several members concerning the topic. 

 

Treasurers Report:

 

The total in the treasury remains at $5,442.25 which includes $5,092.25 in checking and $350.00 cash on hand. 

 

Program:

 

Dave Bodnar.  Showed us a device made up of six circles of LED’s with many different displays.  Dave has sent an email to the club members with a link to this product. 

 

Dave Maynard.  Told us how he uses Sharpie Pens to paint the details on his locomotives.  He uses red, gold, silver, green and other colors as needed.

 

Vince Lilja.  Had an Amtrak passenger car that he is trying to find a way to open.  It is believed the car has been glued together and he will need to use an x-acto knife to cut it open. 

 

Next Meeting:

The next SHMRRC meeting will be at the Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at 7:00 pm on January 30th 2024.  This meeting will begin with our yearly business meeting and election of officers.
