SHMRRC Minutes for the Monthly Meeting

The meeting was held at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, President Jeff Graybill presiding.

Presidents Report:

The upcoming event at the Heidelberg Fire Station (456 1^st St., Heidelberg, PA 15106) will occur on Saturday October 7th from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Setup will begin at 10:00 am Saturday and we will operate until 5:00 or 6:00 or as long as people are still there to view it. Since it could be a long day, any members are encouraged to attend to help.

As previously discussed, our participation will depend on the weather forecast for the 7^th as reported on Wednesday, October 4^th. If rain is predicted we will cancel. The number of members able to attend is not certain as of this meeting. Jeff requested that members contact him as soon as possible when they know for sure whether they will bring modules.

There is a Greenberg Train Show in Monroeville on November 4^th and 5^th. We have not submitted a request but Div 2 has been accepted. Anyone with modules is invited to participate in their setup. Let Jeff know if you want to participate and he will notify the people at Div 2.

Mt. Lebanon is holding their event on Saturday, December 9^th and we have been invited. Setup will be on Friday, December 8^th and tear down on the evening of the 9^th.

Locomotion Weekend at the Carnegie Science Center is on January 13^th and 14^th, 2024. We haven’t heard from the Science Center yet but history suggests that they will contact us to participate.

There is another Greenberg Show in January but the dates are not known at this point.

A discussion was held on the need to buy a few more Digitrax UP7 LocoNet Universal Panels to replace some of the broken ones. A few members volunteered that they had some so a decision to purchase was postponed to a future meeting.

Treasurers Report:

The total amount in the treasury is $5442.25 with $5092.25 in checking and $350.00 cash on hand.

Program:

Dave Bodnar brought in some premade trees that he bought on Amazon. The cost was $15.99 for 60 small trees. Members commented on how good they looked for that price. He also brought some cars that he purchased and invited the members to take some from the leftovers.

Dave Maynard brought in a caboose that he had painted and lettered. A brief discussion of coupler trip pins was held and it was decided that at the next meeting Jeff will put together a presentation on couplers, trucks, and wheels.

NOTICE: The last Tuesday of October will occur on the 31^st and it was suggested that the meeting be moved up a week to October 24^th. The vote was unanimous to approve the date change.

The next SHMRRC meeting will be at the Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at 7:00 pm on October 24, 2023.
